Meet the Principal

Jim Aalfs has been the Principal of Station Middle School since the 2020-21 school year.

Prior to coming to Station, Principal Aalfs was the Principal of  Hough Street Elementary School in the Barrington 220 School District. He also previously worked at Station as an Assistant Principal. His career in education began as a fourth grade elementary teacher at Meadowdale Elementary School in the fall of 1991. In 1995 he moved to Hampshire Middle School and taught 7th and 8th Grade History for nine years. In 2004 he became an Assistant Principal at Station Middle School. In 2007 he took a position at Hampshire Elementary School as the Principal until he came to Hough Street School at the start of the 2013 school year.

Principal Aalfs earned his bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Judson University and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Illinois University.

Spending time with family and being outdoors as much as possible gives Mr. Aalfs great joy. He hopes to retire to the mountains in a few years.
